Greetings Stoa families from novice to veteran competitors~
We are excited to host The Christmas Colloquium. This tournament is a short and sweet, one day, speech-only tournament. We are offering TWELVE (12) Stoa speech events.

Registration Opens: Monday, October 23, 2023 at 9:00 AM PST

Registration Closes: Monday, November 6, 2023 at 3:00 PM PST

Scripts must be submitted electronically - there will be no on-site script submission at the tournament.

Competitors can register for UP TO 3 events in each pattern.
Each event must have 4 competitors. If an event does not have 4 competitors we may cancel that event.

This NITOC qualifying speech tournament will consist of two preliminary rounds and one final round. Note: events with a small number of entries will compete in a third round during the final round. Results will be uploaded to Speechranks. We hope this event will be a blessing to all competitors as you sharpen your oratorical skills in bringing glory to the Lord through your speech.

To Register

  • Use the "STUDENT REGISTRATION" tab above to complete all necessary steps.
  • To add students to a family registration, click "ADD STUDENT."
  • You will not be able to finish registration until you sign up to fulfill the parent judging responsibility. (see below)
  • If more than one family registers on the same computer, make sure the previous family has logged off.
  • Duo competitors should check with their partners to ensure they are also registered. A duo team is not registered until both partners are registered and payment received.
  • After your entry is completed, you will be able to print a confirmation page.
  • Registration is NOT complete until payment is received.

PARENT JUDGING RESPONSIBILITY

Each competitor is required to have a parent judging for them for each round on the schedule. Students will need to have their judge physically with them at check in.
Click on the "JUDGE REGISTRATION" tab above, select preferred judge orientation and rounds, and complete all necessary steps.

Judge Registration Opens:
Monday, October 16, 2023 at 8:00 AM PST
There will be a judge orientation at 7:50 AM and again at 9:00 AM PST
It is important to attend the orientation if this is your first tournament of the season.

We kindly request YOUR HELP to ensure the tournament keeps running by checking in 45 minutes prior to each round at the ballot push table.

MEALS

There are restaurants located on campus. We encourage you to stay on campus so that judges can continue to take ballots.

You are welcome to pack your own lunch and/or dinner. Please keep your ice chest in your vehicle until you are ready to eat, enjoy your lunch on the front lawn area.
We have a brief lunch break scheduled. SCHEDULE for details.

Why Colloquium? The definition for colloquium is an academic discussion or seminar. With every platform speech and limited prep, I, the parent/judge, learn from these competitors, mini seminars, if you will. Being the Christmas season the two words sounded fun together and hence the tournament title.
